I entered these photos into the BYUI Photographics Society contest. The theme was Celebrate and I love America so I took pictures of what I did to celebrate. I used shutter priority on all of them to get good time to show the lights. For the sparkler picture I twirled the sparklers around my body to light up my shirt and show the American flag that I was celebrating. 
I chose to enter the Photographics society contest because I am a member and I liked the theme. It is also relatively easy to enter because I just printed out my image and emailed in a submission. I struggled with the entry forms for other contests.
